Did You Know: “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” By Tina Turner
Happy Monday! Today on ‘Tickets @ 2′ it’s a Grammy winning #1 hit by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tina Turner[/lastfm], “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” It was Tina’s comeback song.
She first hit the Pop charts with her husband Ike in 1960, and with their biggest hit as a duo “Proud Mary,” a cover in 1971. After years of spousal abuse, Tina split from Ike in the mid-’70s with her career in limbo until this song.
Tina hated the song, her manager insisted on her recording it, which was great advise, he earned his managerial fee for that advice, it won a Grammy in 1985 for song of the year, and record of the year, and best female vocal performance.
Turner gave one of the awards to her manager, who she credited with revivisng her career.
We’ll take caller # 14 when we play it between two and three for tickets to see Brenton’s N Wood, 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
