President Barack Obama is paying a short overnight visit to Los Angeles this afternoon, which means plenty of gridlock traffic on your commute home from work this evening.
With plans for a fundraising event at the House of Blues on Sunset this evening, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is warning motorists of impending traffic delays and street closures ahead of time so you can plan your drive around West Hollywood accordingly.
Obama is expecte to arrive in L.A. at 4:40 this afternoon for a couple of fundraising events for his campaign run in 2012. He’ll be attending an event at the House of Blues Sunset hosted by Modern Family‘s Tyler Ferguson will 1,000 attendees paying $250 for a speech and concert.
Afterwards, the President will dine at Fig And Olive for a $35,800 plate-per-couple private event to end his fundraising trail in L.A. He’ll be departing California on Tuesday morning. Below is a list of street closures due to visit, although the exact route hasn’t been revealed by the secret service.
- San Vicente Boulevard will be closed between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue from 6 a.m. Monday to noon Tuesday
- Sunset Boulevard from Doheny Drive to Sweetzer Avenue
- Santa Monica Boulevard from Doheny to La Cienega Boulevard
- La Cienega from Sunset to Rosewood Avenue
Other shutdowns will be in effect on Olive Drive from Sunset to Santa Monica Boulevard; on Holloway Drive from Sunset to La Cienega; on Fountain Avenue from La Cienega to Sweetzer Avenue; and on De Longpre Avenue from Fountain Avenue to Flores Street.
