Dolores Hope, Widow of Bob Hope, Dies At Age of 102

Some sad news out of Hollywood today.  Dolores Hope, widow of Bob Hope, passed away today at age 102 in her Toluca Lake home.

The couple met in 1933, when professional singer Dolores DeFina appeared at Manhattan nightclub the Vogue Club.  They happy couple married in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1934 and adopted four children.

It was in the 1940s when Delores joined her husband on his tours of entertaining troops overseas, a tradition which lasted for more than 50 years.  She recorded her first CD at age 83 entitled “Dolores Hope: Now and Then” and recorded a Christmas CD with Bob, “Hopes for the Holidays.”

Dolores Hope will be buried in a private ceremony next to her husband at the Bob Hope Memorial Garden in San Fernando Mission.

!02! Wow! That’s a long life (my grandfather lived to almost 101 himself; just falling short). I remember watching Bob Hope and all his specials on NBC (including Christmas and USO specials). I remember his appearances with Barbara Eden and Brooke Shields growing up.

A very funny comedian who is still missed and his movies with Bing Crosby (the Road pictures with Dorothy Lamore) are very funny still to this day I believe.

I do remember his wife Delores singing to Bob on some of his specials.

    “Thanks For the Memories!”
