Poll: The Munsters Are Back — Should NBC Remake This Classic Or Leave It Alone?

Another classic sitcom is getting revived from TV Land obscurity with the likes of Charlie’s Angels, Bewitched and Hawaii Five-O. The odd TV family The Munsters is making its way back to prime-time, but this time with a much darker, edgier feel than we’re to seeing from the eccentric bunch.

Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) is taking a second shot at developing this new, hour-long take on The Munsters for NBC, but we want to know, should this classic 1960s sitcom get the remake touch or should it be left alone?

All our favorite characters from the Munster family will be included in the revamped including Herman Munster, wife Lily, the eccentric Grandpa, son Eddie and niece Marilyn Munster. Even Eddie’s pet dragon, Spot is said to be featured in the remake.

The revived series is said to focus on how the family living at 1313 Mockingbird Lane came to be, with a darker feel and a touch of comedy that’s familiar of the original.

Do you think it’s a good idea for this classic sitcom to get a modern remake amongst the rising popularity of Vampire shows and movies, or should this classic be left alone?

  1. The 1st remake of it was a total flop, it never really captured the true innocence of their characters. They should just replay the original show on tv land !!

I vote NO; there was only ONE Yvonne DeCarlos and ONE Ed Gwynn…no one else could play Lily & Herman like they could!! I agree with Mercedes; show reruns of the original series on Nick at Night or AMC. It was a sitcom for the ages, “back in the day”, and should NOT be done “updated” – it won’t work!

I wouldl like to see them make a remake (they made remakes of “Wonder Woman” and “charlies Angels” haven’t they?). Let me just say that they can try, but it doesn’t ean it will catch on or do well and if that’s the case, so what right?
