During their set at the Ottawa Bluesfest in Canada, rock group [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Cheap Trick[/lastfm] narrowly escaped at scary stage collapse caused by strong winds from an approaching storm. [photogallerylink id=41425 align=left]
Luckily, nobody in the band was injured from the incident that knocked them off their feet, but several fans were sent to the hospital with injuries caused by the collapse.
Cheap Trick was in the middle of performing their huge hit “I Want You To Want Me” at the Ottawa Bluesfest on July 17th, when forceful winds from an ominous storm cause the stage to buckle and collapse.
According to a reporter covering the event Ryan MacDonald: “People started screaming and crying. The stage was a rectangle and it had scaffolding, three, four stories high. The wind caught it and blew it backwards. It collapsed like a big tent. It was kind of unreal.”
The following performances at the festival were canceled due to the incident, which was captured on video below:
