Pope Benedict XVI Makes History With Sending First Tweet From The Vatican

Remember how weird it was when your parents first opened their own Facebook account and started tweeting their daily musings more often than you? This kinda falls in the same category. There’s no denying that social networking has grown in popularity among many different generations, and now even the Pope is getting his tweets on!

Pope Benedict XVI sent his first tweet on Tuesday from the official Vatican news Twitter account using an iPad, making history as the first Pope to embrace social networking. And we have to say, we’re pretty impressed.

The 84-year-old Pope reached followers around the world by sending out the first ever papal tweet in order to promote the newly launched Catholic Church’s website News.va. The Pope praised the Lord and gave his blessings in the brief 129 character message seen below:
