Oh Dodgers, it’s been a whirlwind of a season so far for you being caught in the middle of a messy divorce between owner Frank McCourt and his wife, a devastating incident on opening day, being taken over by Major League Baseball and now this…bankruptcy. Fans were shocked at McCourt’s decision to file the team for bankruptcy on Monday, leaving loyal Dodger supporters wondering what will happen next.

A judge will examine the bankruptcy terms in court later on Tuesday to determine just that and hopefully give some insight on how to save this historic franchise. McCourt filed for bankruptcy on Monday citing a drop in fan attendance and $22 million in deferred payments, including payroll to former players like Manny Ramirez and Andruw Jones.

Between McCourt’s divorce and current actions, Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig says “the action taken by McCourt does nothing but inflict further harm to this historic franchise.”
