We’re used to seeing eccentric behavior from Lakers’ forward Ron Artest, but he may have topped himself with his latest decision to legally change his name to “Metta World Peace.” Artest filed papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday seeking the name change, but has yet to file any paperwork for the name on his jersey.
So we want to know…what do you think of Artest’s decision to change his name? Love it or hate it?
In Ron Artest’s actions to help revamp his image and better himself as a person, the Lakers forward has officially decided to change his name to ‘Metta World Peace,’ ‘Metta’ being his first name and ‘World Peace’ being his last. The word ‘Metta’ is a Buddhist term for “virtue of kindness,” which seems to go along with his journey for personal growth.
There’s no word whether or not his new moniker will appear on the back of his jersey, but if it does, it will likely say ‘World Peace.’
So what do you think of the name change? Let us know if you’re ready for ‘World Peace’ to come at you!
