Did You Know: “Take On Me” By A-Ha

The band recorded the first version of the song around 1983 and included it on their demo tape. At the time it was called “Lesson One.” In 1984 they remade the song and renamed it “Take On Me.”

A-Ha are Norwegian by origin formed by Morten Harket (vocals), Pal Waaktaar (guitar) and Mags Furuholmen (keyboards). They moved to London in January of 1983 and signed with Warner later in the year. Furuholmen chose the name from the simple explanation known worldwide…it was an (ah-ha!).

With “Take On Me” they became the first Norwegian band to have a # 1 hit in the USA.
