A man and musician right at the center of the most prominent artists of the ’60s, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter Asher[/lastfm] was certainly the “right man, in the right place, in the right time” in music history. [photogallerylink id=42443 align=left]

He was in the middle of the Beatles’ phenomenon at the height of their career when his sister dated [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] (who also lived with Peter at his house) and ran The Beatles’ renowned label Apple Records, where he discovered the one and only [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]James Taylor[/lastfm], and that was just the beginning of Peter’s career!

The gifted English gent stopped by for a visit with Gary and the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show this morning to share details about his unique show coming up this Thursday at the Canyon Club. In Peter Asher: A Musical Memoir Of The 60’s and Beyond, fanatic classic music lovers will be infatuated by Peter’s extraordinary stories and involvement in music, and will revisit some of the biggest hits of the ’60s and beyond!

After taking over as head of The Beatles’ Apple Records, guitarist, producer and manager extraordinaire, Peter Asher left England at the beginning of the ’70s to manage up and coming singer/songwriter James Taylor in the States. He went to produce Taylor’s breakout debut album Sweet Baby James that launched his exceptional music career.

“I bet my future on James because I believed so strongly in him,” Peter tells Gary. “We agreed that I’d become his manager so we came over to America…that was the beginning of kinda phase two.”

Peter has made a successful career as  being the producer/manager for some of music’s biggest heavy hitters including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Linda Ronstadt[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Carole King[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Randy Newman[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Joni Mitchell[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Cher[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Diana Ross[/lastfm] among many others.

He’s turned his incredible life-long career into an engaging stage performance that includes first hand stories from the height of the music industry while performing hits from his band and throughout the ’60s and beyond. You can see Peter in person this Thursday, May 19th at the Canyon Club in Agora Hills and on Sunday, May 22nd at The Coach House.
