It’s [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Men At Work[/lastfm] and “Down Under” on ‘Tickets @ 2’ today. The song was meant to be a patriotic ode to Australia, but the members of Men At Work found themselves in legal trouble for copyright issues for allegedly plagiarizing this popular Aussie children’s tune.

An Australian appeals court ruled that “Down Under” by Men At Work plagiarized a popular Aussie kids’ tune from the 1930s. So Colin Hay and EMI have to fork over a portion of the royalties to the holders of the copyright to “Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree.” The court mandated a payment of 5 percent of royalties since 2002 plus a cut of future revenues.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take a Friday the 13th, 13th caller to win Renaissance Pleasure Faire tickets and dinner for two at E l Torito; 1-800-232-KRTH (5784).
