It’s The Isley Brothers “Shout” (Parts 1 & 2) on ‘Tickets @ 2′ today. When you hear it come on the radio between two & three we’ll take caller # 17 to win Legoland California Resort tickets.

This was recorded and released by The Isley Brothers in 1959. It did not go higher than #47 on the Billboard Hot 100, but became their first gold single on the basis of its longevity.

It became a much covered song, Joey Dee & The Starlighters reached # 6 with their recording in 1962. British pop singer Lulu had a # 7 UK hit with the song in 1964. The Shangri-Las included a version on their debut album Leader of the Pack in 1965. Otis Day and the Knights had a version prominately featured in the 1978 comedy film National Lampoon’s Animal House. American punk rockers Green Day also covered the song.

The song was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, ranking # 118 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time List.
