Larry King’s late night successor on CNN, Piers Morgan was taking a Delta flight from New York to Minneapolis where he was due on the set of America’s Got Talent, but mid flight the plane turned around and headed back to New York.
Piers missed his call time for America’s Got Talent and began barrage of tweets about the airline. To avoid a publicity nightmare, Delta charted a private plane for him to the tune of $50,000.
Nobody seemed to know why the plane turned back around to New York, so an enraged Piers turned on his cell phone mid flight and started the tweets about Delta. Even after flying on the private jet to his destinataion, Piers still missed the taping for AGT and the show had to go into overtime.
All in all, Piers’ mid-flight drama cost the airline and the show around $100,000. Listen to the Entertainment Report to hear Piers’ tweets to the airline!
