We’ll take caller #5 when you hear “My Girl” by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Temptations[/lastfm] to win movie tickets to Lincoln Lawyer.

“My Girl” was written by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Smokey Robinson[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ronnie White[/lastfm], who were both members of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Miracles[/lastfm] at the time. Smokey wrote the lyrics, which were inspired by his wife, Claudette.

In a 2006 NPR interview, Robinson explained that he wrote this with David Ruffin’s voice in mind. It was the first Temptations single to feature Ruffin on lead vocals (Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams sang lead on previous Temptation’s singles), and it led to a greater role for Ruffin, as he became the primary lead singer. The Temptations were considered the most talented vocal group at Motown.

The previous year, Smokey wrote “My Guy” for Mary Wells. “My Girl” was the first of four #1 hits for The Temptations.

Caller # 5 will be out ‘Tickets @ 2′ winner at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784)!
