The Beach Boys Officially Releasing Incomplete Album ‘Smile’ This Year
Here’s some news to smile about; [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Beach Boys [/lastfm] are officially releasing their long-lost, incomplete album Smile later this year in a special deluxe edition with many added features!
Capital Records announced that the album will get the proper release it deserves later this year on a special 2-disc set and deluxe box set for uber fans to collect.
Originally intended as a follow-up release to their smash 1966 album Pet Sounds, the material for Smile was abandoned due to the fragile mental stability of Brian Wilson and never officially completed.
Sessions from the album have been bootlegged for years among fans, but there’s no established track listing since it was never completed. This release later this year will give the album a proper track listing and sold as a two-CD set or as a deluxe box set including four CDs, two vinyl LPs, two vinyl singles and a 60-page hardbound book penned by Beach Boys historian Domenic Priore.
According to engineer Mark Linett, Brian Wilson’s acclaimed 2004 album Smile could be used as a template for The Beach Boys’ release. However, there’s no official word yet on the release date or track listing, but fans worldwide will be smiling when it drops!
