Did You Know: The Spinners’ “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love?”
‘Tickets @ 2′ features a song by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Spinners[/lastfm], “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love?”
The song was written by Melvin Steals and Mervin Steals, songwriter brothers working for The Spinners’ label, Atlantic Records. But before being known as ‘The Spinners,’ the five-piece group went through a couple name and label changes.
If The Spinners sound a little more like Motown than New York, that’s because they used to be signed with Motown Records. They were even known as “The Motown Spinners” before, but changed their name to “The Detroit Spinners” after moving to Atlantic Records. It was later shortened to just “The Spinners.”
They were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999, and as recently as 2006 appeared on The Late Show Withe David Letterman.
