It has been a debate for years on how to go on winning an Oscar. Obviously, you need to make a movie (goes without saying). But what kind of movie to make? Will a comedy do the trick or are dramas the only way to go?
Charles Gant from Heat Magazine has given his tips on what to look for if someone wants their film to win an Oscar. He insists that dramas are the only ones that will win for many reasons including most Academy members are older and more conservative.
Charles mentions that the road to the Academy Awards is a long one even though it is a “popularity contest.” He thinks that The Social Network, The Kings Speech, 127 Days and The Fighter make perfect sense because of the real drama that is present to make for a perfect Oscar-winning movie. Check out his video on BBC website talking about how these feelings may change. He says, just don’t make a comedy!
