Back in 1997, K-EARTH 101 legendary morning man Robert W. Morgan made a return to the airwaves after making a announcement that he had lung cancer.  Joining him that morning was KTLA’s Mark Kriski.  At that time, Jim Carson was filling in for Robert along with Joni Caryl.

Sadly, Robert passed away in May the following year.

Hear our exclusive interview with Mark Kriski speaking about his scary illness and returning back to work on Monday!

Thanks so much for all too brief glipse of Robert W. Morgan. He was just the best, the funniest, most original DJ on the air in those days. I first listened to him growing up in the 1960s when he was on 93 KHJ, and was an avid follower of him and his career ever since. He will never be replaced, and his missed even now.

I missed Robert W Morgan a lot. I remember him being such a prankster on April Fool’s Day…it was really fun listening to him.

There’s bit of L.A. radio nostalgia for you. My father smoked cigarettes, but then quit; then when I was six years old, he suffered a massive stroke that paralyzed his entire left side which lasted the rest of his life (despite making a remarkable recovery, he wasn’t expected to have made the night, but miraculously he did). I remember all this because me and my brother were sent to a foster home for quite a while as a result.

My mother lived common law with a chain smoker for twenty years and died of lung cancer over 10 years ago as a result.

Here’s a piece of advice–KIDS! DON’T SMOKE! DON’T START! If you’ve started by all means, QUIT! There are better things to do with your life then smoking.

I’m sure that man is sorely missed.
