The old saying “one monkey don’t stop no show” proves to be true with the reunion of TV created ’60s super group [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Monkees[/lastfm]. While one of the original Monkees, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Michael Nesmith[/lastfm], will not be joining them on their anniversary tour, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter Tork[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Davy Jones[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Micky Dolenz[/lastfm] (pictured above L-R) embark on a concert tour in the UK this spring to celebrate their 45th anniversary.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the limited engagement tour will begin on May 12th at Liverpool Echo Arena and conclude on May 25th. The Monkees disbanded in 1971, although they have sporadically reunited throughout the years. Nesmith has avoided The Monkees spotlight since 1997.
In the ’60s, The Monkees enjoyed immense success, outselling both the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm] and the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rolling Stones[/lastfm] combined in 1967.
No word yet on whether the tour will eventually find its way to the States.
