Fresh after the incredible tribute to her at the GRAMMYs, the Queen of Soul [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Aretha Franklin[/lastfm] is saying she’s back at “150 percent” and is ready to turn to the stage in May.
Franklin’s return to stage marks her first time performing since her recent surgery, which was described as being “more than minor surgery.” It was late last year when Franklin’s health came into the forefront due to the cancellation of shows because of health issues.
Not only will the Queen of Soul be returning to stage, she’ll also be released a brand new album entitled Aretha: A Woman Falling Out Of Love, due out the first week of May and available at Wal-Mart.
One of her biggest obstacles since the surgery has been the losing of weight. Working out and walking at least one mile a day three times a week is now part of her routine. Gone are her favorite food from her diet which included chitterlings, pigs’ feet and ham hocks. Instead, it’s fresh fruit and other healthy foods. Her goal is to be down to a size 16.
While recuperating at home, Aretha went one month without singing, the longest she’s ever gone. To get it back, she had to sing three to four times a day.
We know we’re all looking forward to seeing Aretha back on stage!
