In the world of rock and roll, you know you’ve made it when one of three things happen:

1. You get to press your hands into cement
2. You get paid in advance
3. You have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Speaking of the latter, we’ve assembled a list of ten “rock stars” who’ve earned their own Hollywood stars.

10. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Roy Acuff[/lastfm]: OK, so he may not be a rock star — and he may be second in alphabetical order behind Paula Abdul, but he’s the King of Country Music and he’s influenced every rocker in one way or another. Just ask the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Byrds[/lastfm].

9. Lou Adler: As much a rock star as any rock star, he produced [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Carole King[/lastfm]’s Tapestry. And now he gets paid in advance.

8. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Herb Alpert[/lastfm]: he may have been the King Of Smarm-Rock but he also founded a record label (A&M) that brought us [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joan Armatrading[/lastfm] and the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Police[/lastfm].

7. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Leroy Anderson[/lastfm]: Considered “one of the great masters of light orchestral music,” we consider him a rock star ‘cuz he wasn’t.

6. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paul Anka[/lastfm]: “You’re Having My Baby.” Sheer brilliance.

5. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ray Anthony[/lastfm]: He was married to Mamie Van Doren, played in [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ricky Nelson[/lastfm]’s band and still hangs with Hef. Rock star, indeed.

4. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gene Austin[/lastfm]: He was an American pop singer whose 1920s-era song, “When My Sugar Walks Down The Street,” preceded “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by almost a century (and laid the groundwork for the Chairman of The Board).

3. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gene Autry[/lastfm]: When the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Outlaws[/lastfm] covered “Ghost Riders In The Sky,” Autry officially became a rocker.

2. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Louis Armstrong[/lastfm]: Do we really need to explain?

1. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Neil Armstrong[/lastfm]: Wasn’t that him in the original Music Television ID?
