Elton John Tells Billy Joel To Clean Up His Act
In an upcoming interview with Rolling Stone, the new-found proud papa [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Elton John[/lastfm] speaks bluntly about his longtime friend and touring partner, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Billy Joel[/lastfm]. John talks about his piano peer’s battle with alcoholism and puts a lot of the blame for canceled tour dates on their past co-headlining tour as a result.
But Billy Joel didn’t let Elton John’s frank words go without a rebuttal, hear what the two piano men had to say about each other.
In his detailed interview with Rolling Stone, Elton John offers up some tough advice for his friend Billy Joel to get support from rehab for his battle with alcohol abuse. John said that he needs to clean up his act for good this time and “do something better with his life.”
Joel had brief stints in rehab two separate time in 2002 and 2005, and has publicly and privately dealt with depression. He and John went on the road together in 1994 on the “Face to Face” tour, but had to cancel entire tours in the past because of Joel’s problems with “alcoholism” and other afflictions, according to John.
John said that Joel needs a rude awakening in his light right now in order to get his act together. After hearing John’s blunt advice, Joel simply brushed off the comments responding, “Elton is just being Elton.”
Well at least Billy Joel accepts Elton “just the way he is” and isn’t fueling the argument any further.
