Fans had a shock at [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jimmy Buffett[/lastfm]‘s concert in Sydney, Australia when the singer stepped off the edge of the stage into a gap after flashes of light impaired his vision. Buffett was treated at St. Vincent’s Hospital for head injuries, but he’s “doing well” and has been released from the hospital.
The 64-year-old singer fell into a gap between the stage and audience barrier, hitting his head and suffering a massive cut. He was treated at the hospital receiving a CAT scan which produced normal results, and was kept for observation until doctors were sure he was fit to leave.
The sold-out concert where the accident happened was part of a three-day run Buffett was performing in honor of Australia Day, which celebrates the first British fleet’s arrival in Sydney in 1788. Before his fall, Buffett apologized to the audience for not visiting Australia more often and promised to return in 2012.
There’s no word if Buffett will continue on with his normal concert schedule with his next performance on January 29 in New Zealand.
