The iconic Detroit rocker teased fans for a year about a rumored tour in 2011, and now the rumors have been confirmed that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bob Seger[/lastfm] and his Silver Bullet Band are heading out on the road for a U.S. trek beginning in March!
After releasing a teaser video on his official website of “the announcement you’ve been waiting for,” the tour rumors were finally confirmed in the video that Seger is embarking on a new tour this spring.
The video shows some grainy live footage from past tours with a few of his classic hits playing in the background. Then cut to a map of the U.S. with several states highlighted and a countdown from 10 revealing that, yes, the American Icon is returning live on stage for a tour in 2011!
This is Seger’s first tour since 2006 and you can expect to hear the usual classic hits like “Night Moves,” “Against The Wind” and “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” as well as a preview of new material he’s currently working. How can it get any better than that?
Official tour dates haven’t been confirmed yet, but the map in the video highlights Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York and Missouri, and hopefully we can expect several west coast dates added to the roster.
Seger has been contemplating a tour since last March saying, “We’re looking at some dates and trying to get some buildings, maybe October to November. We just started three days ago and we’ll see what’s available, and of course we’ll play here [Detroit]… See you at the Palace [of Auburn Hills].”
The last time we heard from Seger was from his 2006 release Face The Promise, his last album of original material. He released a compilation album in 2009 called Early Seger Vol 1, but sold it exclusively to the Michigan retailer Miejer and contained just 10 songs. We’re excited for his big return to the stage this spring!
