In 1993, an all-star country cast recorded an entire tribute album covering the best of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Eagles[/lastfm]’ hits on The Common Thread, and now founding member of The Eagles [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Don Henley[/lastfm] is returning the favor.

In his first solo release since 2000’s Inside Job, Henley is recording an entire album of country covers, which will feature a star-studded line-up of guest artists.

Don Henley is sticking with his country roots on his upcoming solo album and is reportedly spending the entire week writing and recording in Nashville with some prime players in music.

He’s recording an entire album of country covers, working with producer/drummer Stan Lynch of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers[/lastfm], and will feature a stellar line-up of  artist collaborations yet to be announced.

Country artists paid tribute to the iconic band on a compilation album of Eagles covers in ’93, which included appearances from  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Travis Tritt[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Clint Black[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Alan Jackson[/lastfm], Vince Gill, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tanya Tucker[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brooks & Dunn[/lastfm].

What do you think of Henley’s artistic choice of recording an entire album of country classics? Will it be worth a listen?
