This Christmas, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm] the Material Girl played up her charitable maternal role by delivering some Christmas goodies to the six orphanages that she funds in the African Republic of Malawi.
The Queen of Pop took a break from writing hit songs and opening up gyms to send presents that included chocolates, toys and clothing with signed Christmas cards inside and notes that said “To my Malawi children on Christmas and Boxing Day. I wish I was with you. See you soon, M.”
Madonna also encouraged one of the orphanages to host an open-air party with more than 1,000 villagers, local under-privileged children, and the orphans.
Next spring, Madonna will be visiting he country with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]U2[/lastfm]‘s infamous philanthropist, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bono[/lastfm].
