We know, we know. Christmas isn’t come and gone and we are already telling you what to purchase in January! But who knows? You might get a fancy Christmas bonus to spend on the want (or necessity) of your choice. And January is the perfect time for purchasing some of the most-needed big ticket items.

Motorcycles: For the best deal, look for bikes left over from the previous model year and be prepared to drive a hard bargain. Anyone selling their moto in the middle of winter is probably eager to make a deal, because they can’t ride it and become nostalgic about their sale.

Carpet and flooring: People want their places to look nice during the holidays, so after the holidays is the best way to get a bargain from salespeople not making any post-holiday cash.

Video games: Get a new game console for Christmas? The newest games have been on the store shelves for a couple of months already, so their prices are slashed!

Suits: Get your basic winter wear for next season as the clothing stores bring out their warm-weather collections.

Air conditioners: No one is buying an air-conditioner when it is raining, snowing, and sleeting outside, so start your hot weather shopping right now, for the best quote in town.

Winter coats: Same as with the suits, stores will be clearing room for spring clothing.

Boats: Visit the showroom on a snowy afternoon, drive a hard bargain, and you might find yourself ready to launch, come the first warm spring day.

Big appliances: After stocking up for the holiday rush, appliance dealers will be eager to convert some of the remaining inventory to cash and clear space on the showroom floor for the newest models.

Bedding and bathroom linens: Many stores will be vying to sell you new sheets, comforters, towels and pillows, at the year’s best prices.

Outdoor gear: Not many are camping this month so pick up tents, stoves, backpacks, kayaks, fishing gear and other products designed for the great outdoors.

Wrapping paper: Is there anyone in the U.S. still unaware that January is the time to buy wrapping paper?

Electronics: Waiting until January to buy electronics is a bit of a gamble; the really hot items may be out of stock, and those put on sale may be less popular.

Houses: Spring is the best time to sell a house, and midwinter is the worst, so anyone putting their house on the market during the worst selling time might be desperate to sell.

Bicycles:No one is thinking of riding their bike in the snow so bike shops are quiet and owners are interested in clearing out current models to make room for new ones arriving in a couple of months.

Furniture: Stores with unsold inventory often put some of it on sale to make room on the showroom floor.
