Paul McCartney Plays Career-Spanning Apollo Set
Just two nights after [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] set “Saturday Night Live” on fire, he was back at it in Gotham, at the Apollo Theater performing hits by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wings[/lastfm], the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm] and his extensive solo catalog!
McCartney played for the intimate crowd at the historic Apollo Theater, a space for which McCartney grew up with great fondness.
“I dreamed of playing here for many years,” McCartney said early in the show., Later in the set, he leaned against his piano and said, “take a moment and soak in the Apollo.”
McCartney and his band also played [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm] hits like “I Saw Her Standing There,” “Get Back,” and “Yesterday.”
The Apollo Theater only seats 1400 or so spectators, meaning that this bunch of New Yorkers – many of whom braved blizzard-like conditions to get to the theater – saw one of the most intimate McCartney shows imaginable today.
What would be your dream set list for a show this size? Would there be any way to put such a thing on paper?
