NBC hopes to give American Idol a run for its money with the premiere of a new singing show, The Voice of America. Super star producer Mark Burnett (Survivor/The Apprentice) is in charge and feels this could knock out American Idol.

NBC and Burnett created this singing show just to compete with American Idol in hopes that it will take off and beat AI as the new reigning singing competition.

The show will be similar to Simon Cowell’s X Factor in that the judges will not only critique the contestants, but also coach. And here’s the twist of this show, the judges must also turn their backs to the contestants during their performances. Why? Find out in the rest of the Entertainment Report below!

Golden Globe nominations are out and includes a tight race for the year’s hottest movies like The Social Network, Inception and The Fighter. Check out the full list of this year’s nominees on the website.

Only two more shopping days until Larry King’s final show. After 50,000 interviews, Larry will finally hang up his trademark suspenders.
