Another release from Michael Jackson’s posthumous album, Michael, is being streamed online for one week on iTunes’ social networking site, Ping. The soft, love ballad “Much Too Soon” comes from MJ’s vault in his much earlier years, dating back to his 1982 album, Thriller.
The song premiered exclusively to on iTunes’ new music site Ping early Tuesday, November 30, and will be featured on Michael Jackson‘s posthumous album out on December 14th.
The song features a melancholy MJ longing after a lost love over a gentle acoustic guitar and backing strings to give the song an intimate feel.
“She was there just sitting at the table/ Thinking now that things won’t be the same/ And wouldn’t you like to go with me?/ And she answered ‘no’ to me/ But I guess I learned my lesson much too soon,” Jackson sings as subtle choir voices rise behind him. “Take away this never-ending sorrow/ Take this lonely feeling from my soul/ If only I knew what things bring tomorrow/ She’d be sitting here beside me.”
According to the iTunes site, the song had always been a favorite of Michael’s, but “never found a home for it.” To hear a snippet of the song, visit TMZ or stream the whole song on Ping. After you listen, tell us what you think of the long-lost song!
