Cher Given A Lifetime Achievement Award By Glamour

Ever since we saw [lastfm]Cher[/lastfm] in Mermaids when we were young, we’ve always had a fierce fascination with Cher. Her dark hair, husky voice, experimental, outrageous style and her lack of concern for what people thought of her was always an inspiration in a world full of beautiful, perky, cookie-cutter blondes.

Glamour Magazine also recognized Cher’s contribution to womankind and honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards last night.

While Cher is most known for being a singer and actress, she is also a great philanthropist. Her honor recognised her work with Kenyan orphans at New York’s Carnegie Hall. However, Cher insisted she is not glamorous at all when she is away from the spotlight: “You have no idea how non-glamorous I am when I wake up. I walk around in sweatpants and Ugg boots. I don’t care.”

That’s ok, Cher. We are full of “love and understanding.”

  • Confess! When are you your “least” glamourous?
