Did You Know: "Betty Davis Eyes"

The ‘Tickets @ Two’ song is “Bette Davis Eyes” by [lastfm]Kim Carnes[/lastfm], originally written by Jackie DeShannon who wrote the song with Donna Weiss.

This was a huge hit where it was #1 for 9 weeks in 1981, it was not however the years biggest hit. “Physical” by Olivia Newton-John was #1 for 10 weeks.

Kim Carnes had several other hits before and after this, but none even close to “Bette Davis Eyes.” She was a member of The New Christy Minstrels before going solo.

The real Bette Davis was an actress known for playing strong, independent women. Her movies included “What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?” and “All About Eve.” She had a New England accent and was famous for her eyes.

Carnes raspy vocal delivery reminded many people of Rod Stewart.

The song for being #1 for 9 weeks took a GRAMMY for Record Of The Year in 1981.

To win those Elton John tickets be caller #11 when we play it between 2 & 3, it’s all treats and no tricks at 1-(800)232-KRTH (5784).
