If you had asked him in the mid-70s, it’s doubtful that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm] would have been able to imagine kids (and adults!) sitting at home and playing his music on plastic guitars through their television screens. But that’s exactly what the “Rock Band” series allows, and his album Imagine will be in the next version of the game!
The newest “Rock Band,” which is the third in the series, will allow for downloadable content from an online store to supplement the game’s song library. Lennon’s Imagine – the full album, not just the song – will be available for gamers to play.
“The songs on [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm]’s Imagine run the gamut from beautiful piano-driven ballads like ‘Jealous Guy’ to all-out guitar rockers like ‘Gimme Some Truth’,” said Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks. “It’s an incredible musical statement, and a real workout on keyboard, guitar and vocals in ‘Rock Band 3.’ We’re very excited to confirm it as one of the first downloads for our new game, and to help our fans celebrate John’s 70th birthday with its release.”
“Rock Band 3” will be the first of the at-home music games to feature the option of playing along on a keyboard, along with the drums, bass and guitar.
That looks kinda crazy, doesn’t it? And isn’t this a good way of introducing Imagine to a whole new generation?
