Morning Show Poll: Were 'The View' Ladies Overreacting to Bill O'Reilly's Comments?

Things got heated during Bill O’Reilly’s appearance on The View Thursday afternoon. After declaring “Muslims killed us on 9/11,” on the touchy subject on building a Muslin Community Center just blocks away from Ground Zero, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg got their fill of O’Reilly and stormed off the stage.

Were they overreacting to his comments, or was O’Reilly completely in the wrong on this one? Either way, it made for great TV…watch the clip from the show and take the poll!

O’Reilly really lost the audience right around when he stated to Behar, “Listen to me, because you’ll learn.” It all just goes downhill from there…

So what do you think of the whole View/O’Reilly debate?!

Who wrote this piece? Whoever it was should go back and watch the clip again. Joy and Woopy are the ones who lost the approval of the audience. Not Bill. Interesting turn of events: look at the polls this morning and America takes Bill’s side by a HUGE margin, 80% think the women were wrong and Bill was right.

    • Gary Bryan

You’re right, of course, but it goes to show that different people see things in wildly different ways!

  • MJ fan

Lot of people voting did not see it live, I always Tivo,
I agree with Whoopi and Joy

  • Barth

There is only one way to handle O’Reilly when the momentum of his mouth gets the better of him – walk away. He’s a self-righteous idiot.

  • Randie

Joy needs to go for good… And get over herself!! Surprised that Whoopi walked off … She’s better than that? VERY unprofessional.

  • Karen/ Orange

If I remember the killers of 9/11 called them self Muslims”. All O’Reilly has been doing is calling them by there name. So is it ok to rename the group or use the name they have chosen. Bill does not mix words as hard as they might be sometimes. Joy and Whoopi could not stand the heat so they got out of the Kitchen

  • Sandi

All I have to say is grow up ladies you’re not in grade school anymore! Kudos to Baba for reprimanding their behavior. Bill O’Reilly is right on!

  • Mark

Bill was correct. The mosque doesn’t need to be built there. All they need to do is move it further fromt the side of 9-11..

  • Cynthia Augustine

How can Joy Behar consider herself a serious journalist when she flashes a devil’s horns behing O’ Reilly’s head? We did that when were kids, not as adults appearing in a public forum. I have never liked Joy Behar for her views but now this seals the deal that she is mentally unfit.

    • Gary Bryan

      She aint a journalist… she’s a “comedian!”

      • Shirley

not funny for a comedian, just plain ignoramus and ill-informed!

  • Tommie

I think Whoopi and Joy know very well you attached us.
Bill is right and telling it like it is. I liked Whoopi in her movies when she was funny and I never thought Joy was funny.

  • Clem

The name of this show is called “The View”, NOT “Whopee’s View”
or “Joy’s View”…and Bill was expressing HIS views!!!

  • Stacy

I watch The View everyday (not sure why), but Joy can always dish it out, but not take it (obviously). Very unprofessional of Joy and Whoopi – kudos to Barbara – I hope they get fined! Bill was right…they were Muslims. There’s good and bad in every religion.

  • GK

The View at one time was a great panel-style talk show. It has denigrated into an extension of The Rosie O’Donnell Show (no surprise Barb hired her) where the host(s) get to bully the guests with whom they don’t agree. And they even gang up on their own in the case of Elizabeth Hasselbeck. They tried this on Glenn Beck, and they tried the exact same thing on Bill O’Reilly. Not everyone can be as civil as Glenn I guess, but when faced with the self-righteous has-beens Whoopi and Joy (no irony in their names, huh?) who shout down and insult instead of discuss opinion, what else do you do but fight fire with fire? Barbara was right to chastise them.

  • tom

The problem is the mainstream Muslim leaders have never denounced those radical muslims who committed 9/11, Al Quaeda, the European cartoonist’s death contractors or go back as far as Simon Rushdi who “would have to be killed” according to muslim comments at the time, Cat Stevens included.

  • Pam

I really enjoyed the comments. Kearth has a great audience.
    Barbara was right!

  • Mikey

I have to say that Joy and Whoopi are righteous for standing up for their beliefs and that Bill O’Reilly is an egotistic moron, but when the ladies stormed off-stage, that was some elementary school BS. As much as I hate O’Reilly and his views, the ladies over-reacted and Babs was right to comment on their behavior… but once Bill apologized, and the ladies came back on stage, I think it showed that they realized that they’d made fools of themselves and so had to face their piers. Good for them for coming back.

    • Bob

piers? were they at the beach or ocean?

  • Bob Wolf

the last 3 decades has no values of what the United States Consitution stands for.

  • Kate

Bill obviously misspoke (re: “Muslims killing us on 9/11”) and Joy and Whoopi, instead of calmly getting him to correct himself like Barbara did after they stormed off, just flew off the handle. Incredibly unprofessional. But on the other hand, Bill should be able to say sensitive things carefully, being a professional television host. Especially since he knew who he was dealing with on The View. They all came into it ready to be combative and jumping on everything he said, which is how they usually act on this show anyways so I am not surprised.

  • Vera

Anytime you put “ALL” into your description of a group of people, (even if you don’t use the word “ALL”), you are taking a chance of looking stupid, Bill..

  • sandra umana

the program is call the View anygody has the rigth to there own opinion and in the show that is why people is invited to share there view not to agre with what they want

    • June

These ladies have forgotten that their show is The VIEW not Their View…..

  • Sandy

I really dislike the View. They are so opinionated and outspoken. Girls behaving badly. They knew exactly what would happen when they had Bill as a guest. It makes for good ratings. Honestly, people have too much time on their hands to watch this nonsense.

  • Doug

Bill O’Reilly acts a fool every time he comes on The View. In my opinion since it looks to me that Whoopi and Joy aren’t hurting for money I would take a day off the next time he’s booked for the show.
