While [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm]‘s spirit and musical influence has certainly not been forgotten, his name was hot commodity over the past month as last Saturday would have been the famous singer’s 70th birthday. So when his fingerprints turned up for sale at a Manhattan memorabilia store, it caught more than just the attention of collectors, but also that of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Wednesday, FBI agents seized a set of [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm]‘s 1976 fingerprint card from when he applied for citizenship from the shop Gotta Have It! and are investigating how the item “came to be for auction.”
According to the store’s owner, Peter Siegel, an unidentified concert promoter purchased the item at a Beatles convention about two decades ago. Siegel also said Homeland Security inquired about the card.
