Did You Know: "A Horse With No Name" By America

Before the classic [lastfm]America[/lastfm] hit became “A Horse With No Name” it was originally titled “Desert Song.” The group often received cases of mistaken identity from listeners when the song was first released, because their sound resembles the great American song-man [lastfm]Neil Young[/lastfm].

This was the first single for [lastfm]America[/lastfm], who formed in England by sons of U.S. servicemen who were stationed there. Lead singer Dewey Bunnell wrote this when he was 19. They moved to the U.S. a year later after this became a number one hit.

Many people thought it was a [lastfm]Neil Young[/lastfm] song when they first heard it, as a matter of fact it replaced Young’s “Heart Of Gold” at #1 in America, by America.

By the way, to win Fab Four tickets be caller 14 when we play it this afternoon, good luck!
