Did You Know: Doors’ Guitarist Is Gifted In Music And On The Green
As one of the most popular hits by [lastfm]The Doors[/lastfm], “Touch Me” was written by Doors’ talented guitarist Robby Krieger and was inspired by his girlfriend at the time. The song’s notable guitar riff was inspired by the [lastfm]Four Seasons[/lastfm]’ hit “C’mon Marianne,” and the closing line “Stronger than dirt” was stolen from the old Ajax foaming cleanser commercial with the same slogan.
Robby wasn’t only a talented musician for one of the biggest rock groups of the ’60s, I’ve personally seen him wandering on golf courses in the area!
Robby is an avid golfer, he loves the game. He started playing when he was a kid at Recreation Park in Long Beach and currently carries a single digit six handicap. I’ve seen him around at various golf courses, he was a regular at Tierra Rejada in Moorpark and plays in a lot of charity tournaments.
His father joined prestigious Riviera Country Club in the 1950s for around $600, so we know where his golfing genes came from. He was quoted as saying his favorite person to knock the little white ball around with is godfather of doom, [lastfm]Alice Cooper[/lastfm]! Fore!
