John Lennon To Get English Heritage Blue Plaque For London Residence

An English Heritage Blue Plaque is a permanent sign installed in a public place to commemorate a link between that location and a famous person or event. On October 23rd, an English Heritage Blue Plaque  will be honored on 34 Montagu Square–the London home famous [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] member [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Yoko Ono[/lastfm] shared from July 1968. The only other rock star to receive this commemoration is [lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm]–also a former inhabitant of 34 Montagu Square.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved in to the property during the recording of The White Album. Their iconic nude shot was filmed in the flat’s basement. The townhouse hails from 19th century and has seen the likes of other celebrity inhabitants, Jimi Hendrix, [lastfm]Chas Chandler[/lastfm] of [lastfm]The Animals[/lastfm],[lastfm] Ringo[/lastfm] and Maureen Starr, and [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm]. Of course, all this artistic genius in one place attracted London’s sixties counter-culture and American author William Burroughs recorded his experimental Hello, yes, hello tapes there.

Just looking at this simple townhouse, can you believe how many amazing things happened in there?
