On today’s date in 1968, [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm]’ received their fifth change of clothing and hairstyles in just four years at Madame Tussaud’s Waxworks in London. A few years later in 1974, “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby” by [lastfm]Barry White[/lastfm] was the number one single in the U.S., his only song as a solo artist to make it to number one.

1980 – While on tour,  [lastfm]Bob Marley[/lastfm] collapsed while jogging in New York’s Central Park. After hospital tests he was diagnosed as having cancer. Marley played his last ever concert two nights later at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2001 – “United We Stand” benefit concert for September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks victims, held was held at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC and was  organized and headlined by Michael Jackson.

2002 – [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] kicked off the second leg of his 22 date ‘Driving USA’ North American tour.
