It’s no secret [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm] is in a league of his own, and many have accused him of being a jerk, so it should come as no surprise to learn that the former [lastfm]The Velvet Underground[/lastfm] frontman recently stirred some more drama in the entertainment world.
It is said that [lastfm]Susan Boyle[/lastfm], breakout star of the reality TV show Britain’s Got Talent, threw peanuts across a first class airport lounge and sobbed after she was unable to perform on America’s Got Talent because [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm] decided at the last minute that he did not want her to sing his song “Perfect Day.”
An eyewitness said of Boyle‘s behavior:
Susan was heartbroken at such a mean-spirited snub. She got hysterical wailing, ‘Why doesn’t he like me?’
While Boyle was offered the opportunity to perform another song, she decided two hours wasn’t enough time to rehearse the new song and instead canceled her performance on the show.
According to a source, Reed did not give consent for her to perform his song because “he’s not a Susan fan.”
While it is sad and unfortunate to hear of Boyle‘s distressing situation, Reed does have the right to voice his opinion if someone he’s not a fan of wants to perform his song, which he might worry would do the song an injustice. Plus, throwing peanuts across the room? How old is she, two?
Our apologies Susan, but, jerk or not, this is [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm] we’re talking about. Team Reed!
