After the huge success of the [lastfm]Yoko Ono[/lastfm]‘s “We Are Plastic Ono Band” concert at Brooklyn Academy of Music in February with an overload of special guests including [lastfm]Eric Clapton[/lastfm], [lastfm]Bette Midler[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Paul Simon[/lastfm], Ono is preparing for the west coast equivalent of the two-night, star-studded event with a whole new lineup of some of the biggest names in pop culture.
Los Angeles is in for a treat for Yoko Ono’s “We Are Plastic Ono Band” concert at the Orpheum Theatre on October 1-2, with a huge list of artists taking the stage at Ono’s musical affair. Love her or hate her, there’s no denying the pop cultural appeal [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] draws in, and now being one of the biggest names in modern music, it makes sense the pop diva is sharing the stage with Plastic Ono Band on night two.
Even after causing a stir over a photo posted on Ono’s son, Sean Lennon’s Twitter of Lady Gaga tickling the ivory keys on John Lennon’s famous white piano, Ono is confident in her decision to add Gaga to the bill and obviously knows the eccentric artist is one of the biggest talents in music.
Gaga isn’t the only big-name act contributing to the two-night showcase, [lastfm]Iggy Pop[/lastfm], the RZA, [lastfm]Perry Farrell[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Sonic Youth[/lastfm]‘s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore are all joining the event.
Other special guests include Carrie Fisher, Vincent Gallo, Haruomi Hosono, Harper Simon, Tune-Yards, Nels Cline and Mike Watt. [lastfm]Plastic Ono Band[/lastfm], which will play under the musical direction of Ono’s son Sean Lennon, will headline the second night of the stellar event.
A week following the spectacular event, Ono will celebrate [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm]‘s would-be 70th birthday with a series of “peace and love” promoting events to honor the memory of her late husband and musical legend. Tickets for the “We Are Plastic Ono” event are on sale now!
