American musician and activist, [lastfm]Sheryl Crow[/lastfm], is once again making headlines in regards to breast cancer. But this time the 48-year old is not battling the disease: she is promoting awareness and prevention.
Crow’s efforts have led up to the creation of The Sheryl Crow Imaging Center, located in Los Angeles.A breast cancer survivor of four years, Crow is focused on promoting early detection, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer. And her hard work has resulted in The Sheryl Crow Imaging Center, which is a state of the art breast imaging center featuring the latest advancements in digital screening and diagnostic imaging technologies.
The Center not only offers mammograms, but provides a list of medical services including clinical breast exams, diagnostic biopsies, genetic testing, surgery, radiation, nutrition and Chinese medicine.
The Imaging Center is located inside the larger Pink Lotus Breast Center in Los Angeles. Pink Lotus was founded by Kristi Funk, the surgeon responsible for operating on Crow after a lump was detected in Sheryl Crow’s breast during a routine mammogram in 2006.
Crow is ecstatic that she has been able to team up with Pink Lotus, saying:
Joining forces with the Pink Lotus Breast Center has provided me with a wonderful platform to create awareness and encourage the millions of American women over 40 to get their annual mammogram.
