What many assumed last November when Elin Nordegren smashed in Tiger Woods‘ car windows finally came to pass officially yesterday, when the former Swedish model and world’s top golfer finalized their divorce in Florida.
The agreement has not been made public, but the reports are that Nordegren walked away with somewhere between $100 million and $500 million in assets.
“We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future,” Woods and Nordegren said in a statement released by Nordegren’s Virginia-based law firm. “While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us. … Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being. The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern.”
The duo will be sharing custody of their two children.
Since the couple’s separation, Woods’ golf game has slipped tremendously, to the point where he is in danger of losing his ranking as the top player in the world. He has had that ranking for the last 272 weeks – more than five years!
