[lastfm]Bob Dylan[/lastfm] is most famous as a singer-songwriter, but did you know the multitalented Minnesota native is also a painter?
The 69-year-old singer has been painting since the 1960s, has books of his art published and has appeared in art shows and galleries for decades. And now the artist’s work on paper will be spotlighted again at an upcoming art show.
From Sept. 4 to Jan. 30, a new collection of paintings and drawings by [lastfm]Bob Dylan[/lastfm] called “Brazil Series” will be displayed at Denmark’s Statens Museum for Kunst.
Dylan said of the collection:
It was an honor to be asked and a thrilling challenge. I chose Brazil as a subject because I have been there many times and I like the atmosphere.
The collection of 40 acrylic paintings and either drawings was inspired by 20th century American realism and painters such as Matisse, and was created exclusively for the museum.
