Michelle Obama has been working hard to fight for a healthy America, starting with the eating habits of our nation’s children. And she is speaking up again on why she feels the Child Nutrition Bill is so vital to the future of America– urging congress to pass the bill.
The First Lady hopes with her support the slow but steady progress of this bill will speed up. She was recently quoted on her thoughts of the health bill: “Our country has a major opportunity to make our schools and our children healthier.”

The First Lady has reassured the nation of her husbands full support of the bill. She said, “The President looks forward to signing a final bill this year.” It looks like all the cards are in place for serious reform—now all we need is for Congress to do their part and pass the Child Nutrition Bill.”
The clock is ticking and Mrs. Obama couldn’t have picked a better time to turn up the heat on Congress. All the efforts from advocates will soon be lost… the Child Nutrition Bill expires on September 30! The bill must be passed before Congress takes their August recess, or it will have to be re-written and re-introduced in the following session. Meaning the bill would start from scratch… to take on this long process again from step one.
It is so important that Congress pass this bill as soon as possible. We owe it to the children who aren’t reaching their potential because they’re not getting the nutrition they need during the day. We owe it to the parents who are working to keep their families healthy and looking for a little support along the way. We owe it to the schools that are trying to make progress but don’t have the resources they need. And we owe it to our country—because our prosperity depends on the health and vitality of the next generation.
What are your thoughts on the Child Nutrition Bill? Do you feel this is a good cause for Michelle Obama to focus on…?
