Aretha Franklin Takes A Nasty Fall; Cancels Shows
There’s not a whole lot that can keep the Queen of Soul from performing her bold hits we all know and love, but after taking a nasty spill over the weekend, Aretha Franklin won’t be able to make her two upcoming appearances in New York City due to injuries sustained from the fall.
Get the latest details of her injury and the status of her upcoming performances here.
We just saw her “Rock-A-Lott” on stage with an unlikely partner, Condoleezza Rice, just last week in Philadelphia, but over the weekend, the soul diva broke two ribs and is suffering from abdominal pain from a terrible fall.
As a precaution, doctors are running a few more tests on the 68-year-old soultress and have advised her to rest in the coming weeks to recovery from the injuries, which unfortunately means she has to forgo her first ever performance in Brooklyn in her two upcoming free shows on August 2nd and 12th.
“I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island,” Franklin said in a statement. “Hopefully I will get it before the end of August.”
She was also scheduled to appear at Congressman Charlie Rangel’s birthday party on Aug. 11. Let’s hope she makes a speedy recovery and is back on her feet belting out her powerful hits!
