K-EARTH Listeners Help To ‘Twist’ To A Guinness World Record
It’s always a great accomplishment to achieve a Guinness World Record and that’s exactly what happened at the 17th annual Glendale Cruise Night.
A total of 1,692 people danced their way to the Guinness World Record to [lastfm]Chubby Checker[/lastfm]‘s “Twist” as he performed the song live on stage.
The attempt was organized by Mr. Rock N’ Roll Brian Beirne who produces the Glendale Cruise Night every year.
Beginning at around 8pm, the Twist dancers were directed to either side of the stage where Chubby Checker, the originator of the dance, was going to perform his famous song, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The enclosed areas were complete with turnstile entrances to achieve an accurate count of the number of Twist dancers. Once the number of dancers needed to break the Guinness World Record was confirmed, it was time to dance to the song for the required 5 minutes.
It was then confirmed they broke the Guinness World Record of the number of people to dance to Chubby Checker’s “The Twist.”
