Forty some years after making his groovy appearance at Woodstock, Santana is revisiting the original site of the historic festival for an upcoming performance.
Another famed rocker is scheduled to join him on the bill at the new Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on the Woodstock site this Saturday, will it live up to the momentous expression of peace and love in the 60s?
Performing at the site for the first time since 1969, [lastfm]Santana[/lastfm] will take the stage at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts only yards away from the original stage where his band rocked spine tingling solos and jams with ”Soul Sacrifice” at Woodstock.
“Santana is one of the artists who embody the spirit of the festival,” said Shannon McSweeney, a spokeswoman for the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. “Him coming back is something special, I think, not only for us but for him.”
Accompanying him for the show is multi-instrumentalist [lastfm]Steve Winwood[/lastfm] on the 2,000 acre concert site that holds 15,000 seated fans and includes the patch of land that was part of Max Yasgur’s farm that hosted the psychedelic festival in 1969.
Do you think [lastfm]Santana[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Steve Winwood[/lastfm] can exude the same energy originally felt at Woodstock, or did Santana’s performance below set the bar at an all time high?
