Prince Wants You To Lay it Down With Him

[lastfm]Prince[/lastfm] has garnered a lot of crazy publicity lately with his anti-internet stance on life, his affinity towards angels, and his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 BET Awards. All of this comes with undoubtedly perfect timing; his album 20TEN has received mixed reviews because it’s progressive and…weird.

One of his songs “Laydown” has come out and we think it is a funkified slice of heaven. Jump with us to listen to the track and see if you will want to “lay it down” with [lastfm]Prince[/lastfm]’s new album as your soundtrack.

[lastfm]Prince [/lastfm] lambasted the internet and decided to keep print alive by giving away 20ten to lucky, jealousy-inducing Brits via inserts in The Daily Mirror and The Daily Record, but the internet has been a beautiful system of delivery for leaked tracks to his hardcore fans. One such song is “Laydown” with our favorite lyrics of almost all time, ““From the heart of Minnesota/here come the purple Yoda/guaranteed to bring a dirty new sound.”

It’s a funkadelic, sexy, dirty, delicious homage to classic funk with modern hip-hop and electronic influences.

“You all know what I’m talkin’ about/ that purple bounce-bounce”
