After making his first ever Facebook status update last week, Neil Young is keeping the surprises coming by announcing a third leg of his U.S. tour Twisted Road, which are all committed to the Gulf area affected by the BP oil spill.  Check the dates he’ll be travelling down the Twisted Road.trans Neil Young Rocking The Gulf

Always the environmentalist, Neil Young has warned us about the enviropocalypse in his graphic novel adaptation of Greendale and is a strong advocate of a cleaner Earth.  So it makes perfect sense that he’s touring the oil-soaked coast along the Gulf to support the area affected by the massive BP oil spill.

On the third leg of his Twisted Road tour, Young will tour much of Florida and the Gulf coast with the only date scheduled so far being at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.  Young added on his website:

Other dates will be announced that are surrounding this show in Florida and on the Gulf Coast. I am looking forward to playing Florida and the Gulf Coast.

The gulf tour announcement also clears up his cryptic Facebook message he posted last week saying, “i have been thinking about adding vampire blues to my show, but i would rather do it with a band.” The lyrics from the 1974 tune adds a new relevance to the present day oil spill: “I’m a vampire, baby, suckin’ blood from the earth/Well, I’m a vampire, babe, sell you 20 barrels worth.”

Look out for his Twisted Road tour making a stop at Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA on July 11, where he will be premiering some environmentally conscious tunes from his upcoming album.
